Job Summary

To provide clinical instruction and supervision to students in the BSN program. To mentor clinical staff in the Designated Education Unit (DEU) who are working directly with BSN students in their role as clinical instructors/mentors.

Essential Functions

• Coordinate the Medical-Surgical/ clinical practicum experience for BSN students
• Collaborate with the Lead Faculty and Nurse Manager of the clinical unit to assure a quality clinical practicum experience for students
• Teach a 16-hour/week medical-surgical clinical practicum that requires availability Wednesday through Friday and an occasional Saturday
• Participate with other course faculty in a 2-hour clinical conference each week
• Grade required coursework
• Providing formative student evaluations/feedback
• Complete student’s final clinical evaluation
• Keep the Lead Faculty informed of any concerns regarding student progression or clinical performance
• Mentor the clinical staff in the DEU who are working directly with the BSN students in their role as clinical instructors/mentors

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
• Minimum of 3 years of current experience in medical-surgical and/or oncology nursing
• Unencumbered Washington state RN license

Desired Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in nursing
• Previous clinical teaching experience
