Job Summary

The Department of Teacher Education at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position in math and science education. Responsibilities: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary math and science concepts/methods. Preference provided to applicants with additional expertise in literacy. Additional duties will include:
• Student advisement
• Supervision of students in field settings
• Active participation in University, Department and School committees

Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate in Math/Science Education or closely related field. ABD considered with the expectation the candidate will have completed the degree by August 1, 2018
• A minimum of five years of recent teaching experience in the K-12 public or private school system with subject area expertise
• Demonstrated ability and interest in leading peers on a project on a long-term basis as part of shared leadership for a program and school
• Commitment to Gonzaga’s mission as a Catholic, Jesuit institution, especially to social justice within the context of K-12 and higher education

Desired Qualifications

• Evidence of engagement in scholarship and service common to the discipline
• Undergraduate teaching in certification programs
