Job Summary

The Department of Educational Leadership and Administration (DELA) in the School of Education at Gonzaga University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2018. Expertise in the areas of K-12 school leadership, online course development, and delivery are required. The faculty member is expected to instruct and advise graduate level students in face-to-face and/or online course environments in one or more of the following degree programs:

• Cohort-based Master of Education degree in Canada (Alberta & British Columbia) or the United States
• Online Master of Arts degree
• Hybrid Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree

The degree programs in DELA are designed for working professionals who desire to be educational leaders in their schools and districts. The focus is on linking theory and research to professional practice so as to develop individual capacity for school leadership. Course assignments require candidates to apply their learning in order to critically analyze problems and respond to real-world issues in their professional work.

Essential Functions

• Teach 9 semester credits per semester during the academic year
• Travel weekends and weekday evenings to teach at sites in British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State
• Teach at least 6 credits during summer under a summer contract
• Collaborate with department and School of Education colleagues
• Advise candidates, which includes guiding them through their capstone projects
• Serve on various School of Education and Gonzaga University committees
• Produce scholarly contributions to the field

Minimum Qualifications

• Ed.D or Ph.D in an area of Education applicable to the programs offered
• At least 5 years of experience as a K-12 administrator with demonstrated effectiveness
• Demonstrated effectiveness in the development and instruction of online courses
• Demonstrated ability and interest in leading peers on a project on a long-term basis as part of shared leadership for a program and school
• Commitment to Gonzaga’s mission as a Catholic, Jesuit institution, especially to social justice within the context of K-12 and graduate education
• Ability to travel internationally

Desired Qualifications

• History of demonstrated scholarship through professional publication, professional presentations, and/or grant development and management
• Experience in analyzing data to improve schools and teaching practices
• Experience in schools with high levels of diversity
• Experience in a Catholic school or other private setting
